I need a feature for 4/25 in Jamestown, NY. Who is open? Drop me a line at jayboc@jayboc.com put Jamestown on the subject line.

Still have 1 spot open for Brunstucky Showcase on 2/9. Same drill as above only put Brunstucky in the subject line.

I also bet the rumors of Demi Moore going after Zach Efron are just a cover story for her hitting on Lee Herlands, check the lastest Star Magazine for more details!

Lee did Todd Glass hurt his ability to be the face of Improv by coming out? I'd guess no, that it strengthens it by him even being more open about himself? And in case it did I want to announce I am coming out, to the nearest Marc's store near me. I need some of the great veggies you can pick up there.

Marv Feb 4, 2012 6:17 AM
I bet you had several women email you already and various gentlemen.

Fallout for 2/9. Had a fallout for the Brunstucky Showcase on 2/9. Who wants it. Spots still open on 2/16, 2/23 and 3/1. Hit me up at jayboc@jayboc.com or on facebook.

Our plan is to turn this into a once a month paid show for many of the locals. There are no plans for another showcase so this may be the only opportunity for consideration for a paid gig.

Hello Cleveland Comics. I'm an indie filmmaker in Akron, and I'm casting for a new movie right now. I don't know if any of you people are interested in acting, but I have noticed in the past that comedians can often make good actors. Even if you yourself aren't interested in auditioning, I'd appreciate it if you could pass this message along to any other members of the comedy community who might be. We'll have sections of the script for actors to read at the auditions, so you don't need to prepare a monologue or anything. Here's the casting notice that I put up at various places online.

THE NEW FEATURE FILM BY THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON'S STUDENT FILM ORGANIZATION, THE 2380 PROJECT, IS NOW HOLDING ITS OPEN AUDITIONS:

Film:

The Masterless

Synopsis:

The Masterless is a dark comedy about two small time criminals from Akron, Ohio who get sent down to West Virginia to kill a man whos going to testify for the FBI; but before they can, they get caught up in the whirlwind of a stolen $50,000; and end up with the Russian mob, the FBI, the local cops, the Mormon mafia, and a few more people looking for them.

Casting:
This movie requires a huge cast, as there are 42 speaking roles. Some of the main roles are:

Bill male mid to late 20s

John male late 20s to early 30s

Big Tony male late 30s to late 50s

Loudmouth male mid to late 20s

Mel male 30s

Sheriff male late 20s to mid 30s

FBI agents 1&2 male any age

Leader of cult male any age

As I mentioned earlier there are also a ton of supporting characters, so, many actors will be needed of all backgrounds and age ranges.

Casting Location:
University of Akron
Student Union
3rd Floor

room 321
Akron, OH

Times:

Friday February 3rd 6-9pm

Saturday February 4th 10am-2pm

Here is a map of the University of Akron.
http://www.uakron.edu/resources/campusMapNew/#
The Student Union is building 60. There is metered parking near the Union and the parking decks are open after 5pm on week days and all day on weekends. The student union's address is as follows:

251 Carroll St.
Akron, OH 44718

If you would like to bring a headshot thats great but we will be taking video of your audition as well as a photograph. There will also be an information sheet for you to fill out at the casting call.

We are working on a shoe string budget right now so compensation will be done with credits and lunch on shoots.

Any questions should be sent to either writer/director David Berry at dlberry@zips.uakron.edu or 2380 project president/Masterless producer Brandon Bell at bjb33@zips.uakron.edu

The Brunstucky shows are on Thursdays not Wednesdays. All of the headliner spots have been filled.

Marv will be posting an article on the front page but I wanted to get the info out there. My goal is to turn this into a regular paying gig for local comics. I need to know who has improved and who the talented newcomers are.

I'm not into open mic's. I have a history of running paying rooms (some worked out/some didn't). I also have been fortunate enough to take some features with me when I headline some 1-nighters.

I'm not trying to be Mr. Benevolent. I'm a self-centered prick looking for talented local comics to put on good shows for decent pay. I have no intention of running a never ending comedy contest. My goal is to get a quality monthly show supported by Brunswick and the surrounding areas. Good comedy at a resonable price.

If that works we all win.

We are starting the Best of Brunstucky Comedy Contest on 2/9/12. 8 openings are available on 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, and 3/1. 2 comics will qualify each week.

Finals will be 3/8. First and second place get a paid gig.

Contact me at jayboc@jayoc.com and give me your contact info and the date you wish to perform. You must put Brunstucky on the Subject line of your message. If you get knocked out of the contest you can re-enter if there is still a spot open at a later date.

The venue is Arturos Bar and Grill, 1480 Pearl Road. Brunswick, OH.

I also need headliners to close the weekly shows so drop me a line with your avails.
